Racism At RNC: Black camerawoman insulted, called an animal and thrown nuts

Racism mars the RepublicanNational Convention after a GOP attendee was ejected for throwing nuts at an African American camerawoman while saying “This is how we feed animals.”

Former MSNBC anchor and Current TV host David Shuster originally reported the story via Twitter. On Tuesday, August 28, Schuster tweeted:

“GOP attendee ejected for throwing nuts at African American CNN camera woman + saying ‘This is how we feed animals.’”

CNN confirmed the story, but declined to confirm specific details of the incident. The following is a written statement from CNN:

“CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.”

It is currently unclear whether the alleged culprit was a delegate or attending the convention in some other capacity. However, it has been confirmed that the attendee was removed after the ugly incident.

Huffington Post notes that the incident would be ugly anywhere, but it is especially troubling for a party whose nominee attracted 0 percent of the black vote in a recent NBC poll.
